England vs South Africa: Under-fire Hashim Amla slams 24th Test ton after forgettable India series

New Delhi: After a series of poor scores, South African Test skipper Hashim Amla on Monday slammed a Test ton against England on Day 3 of the second Test at Cape Town.

Amla, who failed to hit a single fifty during the recently concluded four-match Test series against Virat Kohli-led India, hit Moeen Ali for a boundary to reach his 24th Test ton.

Alastair Cook & Co, who have a 1-0 lead in the series, demolished the Proteas bowlers as they put a mammoth total of 629 runs on board in first innings, courtesy an incredible double ton by Ben Stokes.

In reply, South Africa lost two wickets for just 85 runs, post which Amla and AB de Villiers resurrected the innings.

After 85 overs, South Africa were still trailing by 382 runs with 8 wickets remaining.
