LIVE SCORE

Over 87 | 282/6 | (Misbah 110*)

End of Day 1. Asad Shafiq and Rahat Ali, both fall prey to Chris Woakes who now has claimed 4 wickets in the match. Misbah, on one end, continues to lead his squad forward to post a competitive total on board.

Rahat Ali b Woakes 0 (10b)

Asad Shafiq c Bairstow b Woakes 73 (130b)

Over 80 | 267/4 | (Misbah 103*, Asad 65*)

Misbah-ul-Haq plays skipper's knock! Registers a century on his first test in England. No hint of the 42-year-old batsman slowing down with Asad Shafiq adding to the Alastair Cook's headache in this dominant Pakistani performance.

Over 70 | 228/4 | (Misbah 75*, Asad 55*)

Misbah-Asad continue to build a threatening partnership, with Steve Finn shockingly struggling to against the Pakistani duo. Boundaries flowing almost every over, as the Englishman wait for 10 more overs before the new ball is taken.

Over 60 | 185/4 | (Misbah 58*, Asad 29*)

Solid partnership seems to be building between Misbah-ul-Haq and Asad Shafiq following a shaky start by the Pakistani batsmen, who can still revive their innings if Shafiq can partner the skipper, who tries to steer clear his side out of danger zone.

Over 50 | 149/4 | (Misbah 47*, Asad 4*)

After looking off-colour throughout the day, Stuart Broad provided England a huge breakthrough by dismissing Younis Khan, who threw away his wicket by giving an easy catch towards square leg. With the kind of standards he sets for himself, Younis would be gutted with that effort. Misbah is three runs short of another Test fifty.

Younis Khan c Ali b Broad 33 (73b)

Over 40 | Score 117/3 (Younis 24*, Misbah 28*)

Younis and Misbah continue to stitch a decent stand for Pakistan. While Younis has blocked most of the deliveries in the last ten overs, the skipper has gone for his strokes as he hit four boundaries. Pakistan would want these to bat as long as possible. Cook on the other hand, would be disappointed with the way his players have played.

Over 30 | Score 80/3 (Younis 20*, Misbah 1*)

Pakistan lost another wicket when Azhar Ali gave Ball his maiden Test wicket. It was a yorker, and Azhar was clearly taken by surprise. He reviewed the decision and it didn't go in his favour as some part of the ball was hitting the stumps. The 42-year-old Misbah is the next man in. The skipper needs to give some good company to Younis, who is looking all set to play another big knock.

Azhar Ali lbw b Ball 7 (43b)

Over 26 | Score 76/2 (Younis 18*, Azhar 7*)

That's Lunch! Pakistani would be happy with that kind of an effort. Cook might want to have a word with his men after the way they have bowled to the visitors so far. After losing two wickets, the legendary Younis Khan is looking rock solid at the crease. This is going to be a crucial partnership for Pakistan and Cook will want his bowlers to get rid of one of them when the play resumes.

Over 20 | Score 63/2 (Younis 7*, Azhar 6*)

Chris Woakes provided England their first breakthrough when set batsman Shah Masood edged one to the wicketkeeper. The wicket ended the 38-run stand for the opening wicket. The visitors suffered a huge blow when set batsman Hafeez too became Woakes' victim. Hafeez played a poor shot of a ball which swung away from him and Bairstow picked his second wicket of the match.

Shan Masood c Bairstow b Woakes 7 (29b)

Mohammad Hafeez c Bairstow b Woakes 40 (59b)

Over 10 | Score 32/0 (Hafeez 28*, Masood 3*)

Pakistani openers Mohammad Hafeez and Shan Masood provided a decent start to the team by adding 32 runs in the first 10 overs. As expected, Hafeez has been the more aggressive of the two batsmen. Cook would be slightly worried since his bowlers have failed to pick a wicket in the first ten overs.

As both nations take on each other after nine months in whites, all eyes will be on Mohammad Amir, the tainted Pakistani speedster who is making a Test comeback after a gap of 6 years.

t Lord's in 2010, Amir along with his partner Mohammad Asif deliberately bowled no-balls on the instructions of captain Salman Butt. This was later revealed in a sting operation carried out by a tabloid newspaper.

All three, along with sports agent Mazhar Majeed, received five-year bans from cricket and a jail term.

After Pakistan's miserable show in limited-overs cricket this year, Misbah and his men would be looking to win back the trust of their fans.

On the other hand, after defeating Sri Lanka 2-0 in a three-match Test series recently, Alastair Cook and company would want to put another good show in front of their home crowd.
