ENG vs PAK 2016: After heroics in limited-overs cricket, can Mohammad Amir deliver in Tests?

New Delhi: Ever since he made an international comeback, Pakistani speedster Mohammad Amir has gone through a lot.

Apart from some international cricketers, some of Amir's own teammates too opposed his inclusion in the Pakistan side.

Mohammad Hafeez turned down an offer to play for a franchise in Bangladesh Premier League since Amir had already been signed up by the team.

The Pakistan Cricket Board and the then coach Waqar Younis had a tough time convincing the players to forgive the pacer for his past mistakes.

The 24-year-old was eventually included in Pakistan's squad for the Asia Cup and ICC World Twenty20.

He bowled at his best in both the tournaments, even earning praise from in-form batsman Virat Kohli.

Amir's performances enabled him to win hearts of some of his critics and detractors during the two marquee events.

Now that he is all set to make a comeback in Test cricket, his past is once again back to haunt him.

It was against England in 2010 that Amir last played in whites. The first Test between England and Pakistan takes place a little less than six years after Amir bowled no balls to order at the same venue against the same opponents.

While several English cricketers have opposed his comeback, it remains to be seen whether he can put a good show against England and win the hearts of the pundits once again.

In the build up to the series, Amir picked four wickets against Somerset in a practice game.
