Don`t think I have a problem with short-pitched stuff: Pathan

New Delhi: He had an indifferent tour of the West Indies but Yusuf Pathan is hardly perturbed with the outcome of the ODI series and is pretty confident that things will fall in place as the long season unwinds.

"I may not have scored too many runs but I am not really disappointed with my performance in the West Indies. I would like to look at the positive side of it. I scored 30 in the last match and felt good as I was hitting the ball well," Yusuf said.

Since World Cup, critics have been scathing in their criticism of his inability to play the short ball but the affable senior Pathan begs to differ.

"You can have a look at my dismissals. Have I recently been dismissed to short-pitched stuff?" he questioned.

"I don`t think I have a problem with short-pitched bowling. And in any case when I encounter any problem, the best thing is to ask the senior Indian players. Once I talk to them, I can easily take corrective measures. Speaking to Irfan (Pathan) also helps as he knows my game inside out," Pathan, who has so far played 56 ODIs, stated.

He is hopeful that the England series would be a good one for him and is looking forward to sessions with new coach Duncan Fletcher.

"The ODI series in the Caribbean was the first time I interacted with Duncan. The more we get to know each other, we will have a better working relationship. Obviously, he pointed out subtle things on which I would be working out in the nets," the dashing batsman said.

Although he has been regularly working out in the gym, he hasn`t had a proper net session due to monsoons.

"Once it stops raining, I would start full-fledged net sessions. Irfan will be there and the other Ranji Trophy bowlers. So I expect to have some quality sessions."

The best part about these sessions will be Irfan getting back into rhythm which would mean a sterner test in the nets.

"Irfan has been bowling beautifully. Recently, we played a practice match and he bowled really well. He is getting back his rhythm and I am happy for him."

After having been on the road for the last one year, this break has come as a welcome relief for him.

"It`s been great last few days for me. I got to spend a lot of time with my family. I am not someone who loves hanging out and watch movies. So it was quality time at home," he signed off.
