Delhi aiming for full points against Gujarat on Valsad belter

Valsad: The Mithun Manhas-led Delhi side willhope to get 20 wickets against Gujarat in their second Elite Group Ranji trophy match --something they failed to do against Haryana in the opening encounter.

Although the Delhi batsmen didn`t exactly set the stage on fire but it is their bowlers who need to produce a much better effort than what they did on a slow Roshanara track in the first match.

While Milind Kumar who scored a century on first-class debut and veteran Rajat Bhatia would like to continue their good form, the bowlers led by speedster Parwinder Awana would like to bend their backs in order to pick 20 wickets.

Delhi`s bowling performance on the final day of their match against Haryana was disappointing to say the least when Sunny Singh thwarted the attack for almost the entire day.

"I had a look at the strip. It`s a very good batting wicket and if we win the toss, we would certainly bat first. Also one can expect a fair bit of turn by third day. Hopefully, we would get an outright result on this track," Delhi coach Sanjeev Sharma said.

Hosts Gujarat would like to exploit the familiar conditions in Valsad after missing a chance to get a first innings lead despite a near 300-run opening partnership between Priyank Panchal and skipper Parthiv Patel.

Gujarat`s bowling has been a big problem with only Siddharth Trivedi has looked like causing some damage in an otherwise pedestrian bowling attack.
