New Delhi: India and West Indies are all set to play a short T20 series in America next month.
According to a report in The Indian Express, BCCI was keen on playing a few T20s against the Windies at the Central Broward Regional Park at Lauderhill in Florida, which is presently hosting six Caribbean Premier League (CPL) matches.
While BCCI president Anurag Thakur wasn't available for his comment, other sources confirmed about the developments regarding the series.
“West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) officials will be meeting in Florida to sort it out. We are just waiting for the green signal. It’s amber already, you can say. The matches will likely be played over the last weekend of August. It will be peak summer in Florida, and it will be a spectacle. However, there is slight chance of Bangladesh being invited as the third team for a tri-series,” a source was quoted as saying by the newspaper.
The series is said to be a compensation for the losses suffered by the BCCI after West Indies pulled out of a series midway in 2014. The Indian board is likely to take away a major revenue share from this short series.
India are currently in the Caribbean playing a four-match Test series under Virat Kohli's captaincy.
