Confusion over Ajay Jadeja as Vijay Dahiya 'promised' appointment letter

New Delhi: Confusion reigned supreme in DDCA over Ranji team's chief coach's job as Ajay Jadeja has not yet officially communicated his decision to resign from post and Vijay Dahiya, who is tipped to replace him, is yet to get his appointment letter.

"Neither has Ajay (Jadeja) contacted us nor have we been able to get in touch with him. Till he gets in touch with us, we do not even know what he intends to do. This is not a great situation with Delhi playing their next Ranji Trophy match (vs Vidarbha) from Thursday," DDCA Vice President Chetan Chauhan told PTI today.

As far as Dahiya is concerned, a source close to the former India wicketkeeper, said that he has been "contacted by one of the top DDCA officials" and "promised to give an appointment letter".

"Vijay (Dahiya) will join the practice at 8:30 am tomorrow morning only if he gets a formal appointment letter by tonight. If he does not get the appointment letter, he won't join," said a source close to Dahiya.

In a separate incident, the executive committee members raised questions on how Ajay Verma has been appointed the coach of the U-23 team with former glovesman Varun Kumar as his deputy. In another list that has been issued, Virat Kohli's childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma has been appointed the selector.

"It is very surprising that the DDCA president SP Bansal has taken the decision arbitrarily without consulting anybody. He has signed list of two support staffs and both lists have not been approved by Executive Committee of DDCA. The Executive Committee has taken a strong view in this regard and has called for an Emergent Meeting," an EC member said.
