New Delhi: The West Indian cricketer Chris Gayle is back in news, this time due to a good reason though, after equaling Yuvraj Singh's record for the fastest T20I fifty.

The Jamaican played the whirlwind knock on Monday in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Playing against Adelaide Strikers, the Melbourne Renegades' opener completed his fifty in just 12 balls.

Here is the ball by ball description of how Gayle reached the 50-run mark – 2, 0, 6, 6, 6, 6, 2, 6, 6, 4, 1, 6.

While batting first, Strikers' put up a tricky total of 170/5 in their 20 overs.

However, when Renegades' came in to chase the total, they lost three quick wickets in the form of Tom Cooper, Cameron White and Dwayne John Bravo.

But unperturbed by all this, Gayle played a whirlwind knock of 56 runs off 17 balls, with the help of 7 massive sixes and two boundaries.

Though the chase is still on, by the time Renegades' lost the crucial wicket of Gayle their score read – 74 runs in 5.3 overs for the loss of four wickets.
