Brendon McCullum: Retiring New Zealand skipper continues to raise his bar

New Delhi: New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum who is retiring from international cricket in February showed he has a lot of hunger and determination even at this stage of his career.

McCullum has been an inspirational leader for the Kiwis and he will leave a big void in the New Zealand side. The 34-year-old was again emphatic against Sri Lanka in the Boxing Day ODI leading with example and vigor.

McCullum struck a fierce looking half century on Saturday and continue doing what he does best.

The Kiwi legend has been an inspirational cricketer on and off the field and has built a competitive side under his captaincy. The Black Caps have already sealed the first ODI after also pocketing the Test series. McCullum will want to win everything before he retires from the sport with the Test series against Australia being his last in February.

McCullum who is set to represent his nation in 100th Test against the Aussies, should be cherished for his contribution to New Zealand cricket. McCullum’s rise has been phenomenal and his positivity has been a highlight for New Zealand who have played some exciting cricket across all formats this year.

With Kane Williamson getting ready to take the baton of leadership from McCullum, the classy batsman will hope he can continue with the good work that had blossomed under the latter. McCullum will want to keep getting runs in his last few matches at home and give the home fans a perfect moment to celebrate.
