New Delhi: India's limited-overs skipper Mahendra Sigh Dhoni on Tuesday heaped praise on retiring New Zealand skipper Brandon McCullum.

McCullum, who is playing in his last international match against Australia before hanging his cricketing boots, smashed the fastest ton in Test history on Day 1 of the 2nd Test on Sunday.

The right-hander scored a century off just 54 balls, providing great entertainment to the home fans.

Before heading for the Asia Cup, scheduled to start from February 24 in Bangladesh, when MSD was asked about the swashbuckling Kiwi batsman, Dhoni said that he has entertained the crowd with his batting.

“McCullum is a fantastic cricketer, a player who entertains the crowd,” said Dhoni.

While playing in Indian Premier League (IPL), McCullum played a lot of cricket under the captaincy of Dhoni, who headed the now suspended Chennai Super Kings.

Earlier, the fastest Test century record was with West Indian great Viv Richards, who took 56 balls to reach the three-figure mark against England in Antigua in 1986.

Though, the mark was then equaled by Pakistan`s Misbah-ul-Haq against Australia in Abu Dhabi in 2014.
