Behrendorff suggests plan to tackle Gambhir

Canberra: Cricket Australia Chairman`s XI pacer Jason Behrendorff feels the Aussies can get the better of India opener Gautam Gambhir if they maintain a tight line and length in the upcoming four-match Test series, starting on December 26.

Behrendorff bowled nine overs for just eight runs, claiming the wicket of Gambhir to help Cricket Australia Chairman`s XI make early inroads into the much coveted Indian batting line-up in the three-day warm-up match at Manuka Oval on Monday.

CA Chairman`s XI bowlers saw off Gambhir (24), Virender Sehwag (12), Ajinkya Rahane (15) and VVS Laxman (15) with scorecard reading 84 for four and Behrendorff claimed it was all due to the pressure his team`s bowlers could exert.

"We showed out there if you can put a lot of pressure and bowl a lot of dot balls then he`ll try and play a big shot and we`ll take some wickets," said Behrendorff.

The young bowlers complimented left-arm pacer Josh Lalor, who bowled from the other end and conceded only nine runs from his eight overs.

"Josh and I bowled really well together in a good partnership and built a lot of dot balls and bowled a few back-to-back maidens, which was good and he just missed one I guess," Behrendorff said.

The 21-year-old Behrendorff, however, was disappointed that he couldn`t get to bowl against Sachin Tendulkar who pulled out of this game today morning.

"It would have been amazing to play against Tendulkar so it`s a little bit disappointing that he didn`t play."

Playing with some big names in Australia cricket, Behrendorff had some good words for his senior members of the team, including skipper David Warner.

"I thought Dougie (Doug Bollinger) bowled really well. All the quick bowlers especially bowled well today. It`s a pretty flat track out there so Dougie had an lbw decision turned down that I don`t think he was happy about," said Behrendorff.

"As for Warner, he`s got great intensity out in the field. It keeps us up all the time. He`s really good with the field positions. He`s really smart, he`s really thinking a lot out there, which is really good," he added.
