Asia Cup: India’s fortunes will ride a lot on how Nehra, Yuvraj, Harbhajan perform - Javagal Srinath

New Delhi: Ahead of the Asia Cup T20, former Indian skipper Javagal Srinath said that India’s fortunes would ride a lot on how the three veteran cricketers in the team -- Ashish Nehra, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh – will perform.

The trio have recently made their come in the national team during the T20I series against Australia, Down Under.

“While the T20 format is regarded as a young man’s game, India’s fortunes will ride a lot on how the experienced trio of Ashish Nehra, Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh perform,” Srinath wrote in his column for Hindustan Times.

The 46-year-old seems delighted with the way ageing Nehra has made an impressive comeback after five years.

“I am particularly delighted for Ashish, who spent nearly five years on the sidelines after the 2011 World Cup before fighting his way back. As he isn’ t necessarily the best athlete, but by mastering the nuances of the 20-over game through all these seasons of IPL, he has established himself as the No 1 bowler for India in this version.”

Srinath also believes that Yuvi and Bhajji can still contribute in a big way as he wrote: “For him (Yuvraj) and Harbhajan, this could well be the final tilt at glory, and if they can make statements in their inimitable styles, India will be in fine fettle.”
