New Delhi: Karnataka continue their lacklustre form in the current domestic season with yet another low. Days after their Ranji Trophy debacle, the defending champions were knocked out of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Friday.

Despite registering thumping 207-run win over their Group B rivals Jammu and Kashmir in Bangalore, Vinay Kumar's team failed to make the knock-outs.

Karnataka made an improbable 349 for 5, with Chidhambaram Gautam hitting a 102-ball 109 knock, and skipper Kumar himself playing a flashy 51 off 20 deliveries.

J&K, in reply, made only 142 in 27.3 overs.

Gujarat joined Jharkhand in the knockouts from the group after brushing past Kerala by seven wickets. Both the teams have 20 points each from six games, while Karnataka could only muster only 16 points from the same number of matches.

Karnataka, under Vinay Kumar's leadership, have dominated the domestic cricket last season, winning both the premier tournaments.

On December 4, they crashed out of Ranji Trophy after losing to Maharashtra by 53 runs in their final league match of the season.
