New Delhi: Riding on skipper Steve Smith's 70-run knock, hosts Australia were in total command on Day 3 of the Boxing Day Test with a formidable 459-run lead against West Indies.

Windies bowlers did well to dismiss Joe Burns (4*) and David Warner (17*) for paltry scores in the second innings, but Khawaja carried forward his momentum from the brilliant ton he hit the first innings with a brisk 56-run knock.

Khawaja added 77 runs for third wicket with Smith, and post his dismissal, the Australian skipper stitched an unbeaten 53 runs with Mitchell Marsh (18*).

Jason Holder was the pick of the bowlers for the visitors, as he claimed two of Australia's three wickets in the second innings, while Carlos Brathwhite picked one.

Windies, who conceded 551 runs in the first innings, have another defeat looming since the hosts are in total control with two days remaining.
