Queen remake: Tamannaah Bhatia opts for Telugu version

Mumbai: Vikas Bahl’s ‘Queen’ helped Kangana Ranaut resurrect her career and also grab her second National Film Award. And now, Baahubali’s Avantika aka Tamannaah Bhatia is all set to reprise the role in the Telugu version of the film.

According to a report in Mid-Day, Tamannaah was initially approached for the Tamil remake but she chose to work with National Award-winning director G Neelakanta Reddy, who has been roped in for the Telugu version.

The tabloid quoted a source as saying, “Tamannaah was approached for both versions, but she wasn't comfortable doing them simultaneously, since it involved working with different directors. She opted for the Telugu version. Also, given that the makers of the Tamil film were unable to arrive at decisions [pertaining to the filmmaking process] despite discussing the project with her for four months, she chose to go ahead with the Telugu version.”

Expressing her happiness over being the chosen one for the role, Tamannaah said, “Queen is an interesting film and I have been motivated by roles that help alleviate the image of women. I can't wait to start shooting next month. This is the first time that I will be working with Neelakanta Reddy.”

Interestingly, Kajal Aggarwal will compete with her by essaying the character in the Tamil remake.

The much-appreciated film will also have Kannada and Malayalam remakes, report suggests.
