Delhi: Pakistan’s border guards have raised concerns over the tallest Indian flag at Attari which has been installed just 150 metres away from the border.

As per Hindustan Times, they have alleged that ‘hidden cameras’ are mounted atop the 360-feet mast.

Pakistan border guards have also reportedly said that it could be used for spying by the Border Security Force (BSF) along the international border.

BSF officials said that Pakistan Rangers had voiced their concerns during a flag meeting, as per the report.

The meeting is said to have been called specifically to raise the issue and it was said to have been held a few days ago at the company commander level.

Pakistan Rangers had raised concerns and even a flag meeting was held. They suspected that there was some camera in the pole but we have told them that there was nothing like that,” a top BSF official was quoted as saying by HT, (requesting anonymity).

At the same time, Pakistani force also alleged that the pole violated norms.

They said that construction is not allowed 150 metres from the border.

The installation is far behind the 150-metre mark,” the BSF official was further quoted as saying.

However, the official said the Pakistan Rangers had “not given anything in writing and if they give, we will send them a written response”.

A mammoth tricolour, believed to be the largest in the country with the tallest flag post, was inaugurated at the Indo-Pak Attari Border yesterday.

Punjab Minister Anil Joshi had inaugurated the flag measuring 110 metres (360-foot) in length, 24 metres in width and weighing 55 tonnes.

The flag post, which stands 110 metres tall, now outflanks the 91.44 metres (300-foot) high tricolour in Ranchi which was till now considered the tallest in the country.

Built at an approximate cost of Rs 3.50 crore, it was a project of the Amritsar Improvement Trust Authority of the Punjab government.

Amritsar already has a 170 foot tall flag in the local Ranjit Avenue Public Park.
