CHANDIGARH: In an unprecedented event, a Punjab minister decided the posting of two teachers vying for the same post through coin clip.

Punjab Technical Education minister Charanjit Singh Channi last week was faced with the matter of teachers' posting in the polytechnic institute.

A total of 37 mechanical lecturers were recruited in the technical education institutions across the state. While most lecturers were able to select the institutes of choice. However, two lecturers were vying for the postings at the same place – Bareta college.

Ultimately, the minister made the final decision by tossing a coin.

Channi has been in the news in the past as well for his academic pursuits as a minister, riding an elephant and constructing an approach path to his official residence through a public park.

Several teachers were present during the coin toss.

It was a friendly atmosphere, said the teachers. “We are asked to work hard at our postings,” said a teacher.
