War and pics: Russia continues shelling Ukraine, drives over 1 million people to flee

In what is said to be the biggest attack on a European state since World War II, the UN has said that the conflict looked set to trigger Europe's largest refugee crisis this century.

War raged in Ukraine for a 10th day on Saturday (March 5) as Russian troops besieged and bombarded cities. In what is said to be the biggest attack on a European state since World War II, the UN refugee agency has said that the conflict looked set to trigger Europe's largest refugee crisis this century.

The invasion has now caused a humanitarian crisis that has driven over a million people to flee Ukraine since the fighting began on February 24. Thousands have reportedly also died or been wounded since Vladimir Putin's Russia attacked Ukraine last week.
