By the end of these sessions, Sehrawat had successfully lost 3.6 kilos. His coaches then administered a massage to help him relax and followed it up with light jogging and another 15-minute running session. By 4:30 am, Sehrawat's weight had dropped to 56.9 kilos, just 100 grams under the limit, giving his coaches a much-needed sigh of relief.
Throughout this intense period, Sehrawat received minimal sustenance—only lukewarm water with lemon and honey, along with a bit of coffee, to keep his energy up. Sleep was out of the question; both Sehrawat and his coaches stayed awake all night, frequently monitoring his weight to ensure he remained on track.
Despite the extreme measures and the exhaustion that came with them, Sehrawat's efforts paid off. He not only made weight but also went on to defeat Puerto Rico's Darian Cruz with a score of 13-5, earning India its sixth medal at the Paris Olympics and keeping the nation’s wrestling medal streak alive since 2008.
