Charulatha belongs to Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala. She finished her school over there and did a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Mar Ivanios College. 

By the time Charulatha completed her Masters in Human Resources, she had already met Sanju. She is an entrepreneur by profession. 

Sanju and Charu studied together at Mar Ivanios College in Thiruvananthapuram. He sent a friendship request over Facbook and from there began their love story.

They got married on December 22, 2018 after being in a relationship for five years. It was a low-key ceremony in Kovalam, attended by close family and friends. 

Sanju is a christian while Charulathan is a Hindu Nair and hence their marriage has been solemnised under the Special Marriage Act.
