KKR beat SRH in the Super Over

With just three runs needed to win, Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly against Dinesh Karthik and Eoin Morgan but ultimately SRH's total proved to be too small. KKR picked up the win with a leg bye.

It was Lockie Ferguson's sheer brilliance with the ball which guided KKR to a memorable victory. He was deservingly given the man of the match award.

Lockie Ferguson: Hero of the Super-Over

If Ferguson's spell of 3-15 wasn't enough, he certainly bowled his heart out in the Super Over. He ended SRH's Super Over in just 4 balls by picking-up two wickets and giving away just 2 runs.

On the very first ball he bowled out David Warner while on the fourth ball, he cleaned up Abdul Samad with a yorker.

SRH level KKR's total - The match goes into Super Over

With 18 runs needed by SRH in the final over, KKR decided to hand the ball to the injured Andre Russell, who had gone out of the ground for most of the innings and had bowled only one over.

It surely was a very surprising move with Russell hobbling to the wicket and bowling wayward lines at a much lower pace. SRH took advantage of it and scored 17 from that over to level the scores.

David Warner- Abdul Samad lead SRH fightback

After losing wickets in quick succession in the middle overs, it was left upto skipper Warner and youngster Abdul Samad to rescue a late win. The duo engaged ina 39-run stand where Samad made 23 off 15 balls before getting out to Shivam Mavi on the final ball of the penultimate over. 

Warned stayed at the crease right till the death.

Lockie Ferguson rattles SRH with fiery spell

Lockie Ferguson picked-up his third wicket in the form of Manish Pandey, bamboozling him with a 148 kph yorker that ripped his stumps. He took the wickets of Williamson, Priyam Garg and Pandey in his very first game of IPL 2020 and KKR management were left wondering about why he was left out in the first place.

Ferguson finished with figures of 4-0-15-3.

KKR make strong comeback with three quick wickets

Williamson's dismissal was followed by the quick dismissals of Priyam Garg and Jonny Bairstow. Garg was dismissed by Ferguson while the all important wicket of the well-set Bairstow was taken by Varun Chakravarthy.

Lockie Ferguson removes Williamson on his first ball of IPL 2020

On just the first ball after the strategic timeout, Williamson was dismissed by fellow Kiwi Lockie Ferguson. Williamson was unlucky to miss out on a short and wide ball and miscued his upper cut to hand the catch.

Williamson departed for 29 off just 14 balls.

Ferguson was playing his first game of IPL 2020 and picked up a wicket on his maiden delivery of the tournament.

Williamson-Bairstow give strong start to SRH

In a very surprising move, SRH sent Kane Williamson to open the innings along with Jonny Bairstow instead of skipper David Warner. 

The move proved unerring as the duo stitched a rapid 58-run stand for the opening wicket. All KKR bowlers were taken to the cleaners by the two star batsmen.

Innings summary: KKR post a competitive 163/5 against SRH

It was a 58-run partnership between Dinesh Karthi and Eoin Morgan late into the KKR innings which got their innings back on track. The former and current captain of KKR showcased their esperience against the SRH attack.

Karthik finished at 29 off 14 balls while Morgan launched some late big hits and ended at 34 off 23 balls. 

The duo picked-up 42 runs from the final three overs to take KKR to a solid total.

For SRH, Natarajan picked-up two wickets while Vijay Shankar bowled a economical spell of 4-0-20-1.

SRH take two quick wickets to solidify their position

SunRisers Hyderabad picked-up two well set batsmen within a span of four balls to get a strongold in the game. 

Rashid Khan first removed Shubman Gill (36 off 37 balls) and made amends as he had dropped the KKR opener earlier on. Priyam Garg took a wonderful running catch to complete the dismissal.

Nitish Rana (29 off 20 balls )followed him soon when on the first ball of the very next over, he looped-one straight up off Vijay Shankar and Priyam Garg took his second catch.

Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi give solid start to KKR

Shubman Gill and Rahul Tripathi opened KKR's innings. The duo stitched a crucial 48-run opening stand. Tripathi was the initial agressor as he took on the SRH bowlers while Gill took some time to get set and then went for it. 

Natarjan bowled out Tripathi for 23 to break the partnership.

Kolkata Knight Riders Playing XI

SunRisers Hyderabad won the toss and opted to bowl first. 

Kolkata Knight Riders made two changes to their playing XI. They brought in Kuldeep Yadav to replace Chris Green while Lockie Ferguson got his first game of the season, replacing Prasidh Krishna.

KKR started the game at the fourth spot in the points table. They were coming into the game after two consecutive losses.
