SunRisers Hyderabad vs Delhi Capitals, Indian Premier League 2020 Match 47: In Pics

An emphatic all-round performance powered SunRisers Hyderabad to a huge 88-run win over Delhi Capitals. SunRisers, thus, stayed alive in the competition while Delhi Capitals failed to book their place in the IPL 2020 playoffs tonight itself with a dismal performance.

Ultimately it was the opening 107-run partnership in just 9.4 overs between Warner and Saha which propelled SRH to the huge victory. The Capitals never really recovered from that onslaught with Rashid Khan (4-0-7-3) making things even more tough for them. Rashid bowled the most economical spell of the tournament so far. 

Saha, playing his first game, was awarded the 'Man of the Match' for scoring a magnificient 87 from just 45 balls.

Sandeep Sharma removed the well set Rishabh Pant to put the writing on the wall. Pant made 36 off 35 balls and was the highest run-scorer for Delhi. 

Sharma, bowling his final over, bowled one outside off and Pant tried to slash it hard but got an edge in the process. The decision was not out initially but Warner immediately went for the review after a timid appeal from the keeper. 

The video referral showed that the ball picked-up the edge and then Pant bumped the bat - the umpire reversed his decision and SRH players could initiate their celebrations.

Rashid had another one when he removed Axar Patel, who tried to castle him over long-on but substitute Priyam Garg took an easy catch in the deep. 

He finished with a figures of 4-0-7-3 which are the most economical figures of the tournament so far. He bettered Mohammed Siraj, who had finished with a spell of 3-8 (had two maidens). What a spell it was from Rashid. The best T20 bowler in the world by far. He bowled 17 dot balls on the day.

With the match already in SRH's grasp, Rashid Khan showcased his magic with his very first ball. With a regular leg-spinner, Rashid removed Hetmyer, who was trying to make room and cut the ball. The ball had just the perfect flight and guile to disturb Hetmyer's off stump.

On the final ball off the same over, Rashid sent the well-set Rahane packing with an lbw dismissal. Rahane made 26 but was completely outfoxed by Rashid's wrong one.

Chasing a huge 220 to win, Delhi Capitals got off to the worst possible start. They lost their in-form opener Shikhar Dhawan for a first ball duck against Sandeep Sharma.

Marcus Stoinis followed him soon to the pavilion when he hit one straight to the fielder against Shahbaz Nadeem. 

There was a common thread in the two dismissals. It was Warner who took both those catches and continued with his birthday celebrations.

SunRisers Hyderabad posted a huge total of 219/2 against Delhi Capitals. They would have been slight disappointed not to reach 230 - which would have been the highest total of IPL 2020.

Only 23 runs came from the final three overs but SRH still managed to reach 219. This explained the sheer onslaught that was launched by David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha earlier on.

After Warner was dismissed by Ashwin, Saha took it upon himself and played some astonishing shots. The sheer timing which came from Saha's bat was music to the ears. Whatever Saha touched turned to gold. It never looked like Saha was playing his first game of this edition.

No Capitals' bowler was spared as Saha was in rampant form. He brought up his fifty in just 27 balls and was unfortunate to miss out on a well-deserved ton. He fell after making 87 from 45 balls.

David Warner was celebrating his 34th birthday on the day of the game (October 27).

Warner played like the David Warner we know after looking dismal earlier on in the tournament. He plundered 22 in Purple Cap holder Kagiso Rabada's second over to give a brilliant account of himself. 

No bowler was allowed to settle in as Warner played with more intent and took on the bowlers. Warner made 66 from 34 balls.

Wriddhiman Saha was playing his first game this season and he grasped the opportunity with both hands. 

The new opening pair put on a complete show for the fans as they took all bolwers to the cleaners with even Purple Cap holder Kagiso Rabada getting plundered for 22 runs in his second over. 

The bowlers had no answers as the SunRisers duo put on a 107-run opening stand.

SRH made three changes: Williamson replaced Bairstow, Nadeem came in for Khaleel while Wriddhiman Saha took the place of Priyam Garg.
