IPL 2022 is only a few days ago and the fans are already excited about it. All the ten teams have started preparing for the competition that kick starts on March 26 with CSK taking on KKR in the opening game at Wankhede cricket stadium in Mumbai.

Before the action begins, we look at five most interesting things to watch out for in the coming season.

Shreyas Iyer leading KKR

Shreyas Iyer leading KKR

KKR grabbed Shreyas Iyer at the IPL Auction 2022 for a price of Rs 12.25 crore and there was only one reason why they did so. That is they wanted a captain. In Iyer, they have a proven one. Iyer may not have won an IPL trophy yet but he was very close to one in 2020 when he took DC to the final. It would be interesting to see how he shapes up at KKR, a franchise which has seen two captains in last two editions. (Source: Twitter)

RCB under a new captain

Virat Kohli will no more lead RCB. He had announced his resignation last year before the second half of IPL 2021 began. Many believe he could well be back again but chances are very bleak for that happening. There are high chances that former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis may be made the captain for this season. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how RCB go about things, which brand of cricket they play with a new team and under a new captain. (Source: Twitter)

There are plenty of changes in the MI playing XI now. There will no more be Krunal and Hardik Pandya in middle order, no Quinton de Kock at the top and no Trent Boult either with the new ball pairing with Jasprit Bumrah. This is a fresh start for Rohit Sharma's team in IPL as they embark on the journey to get their 6th title. New middle order combinations will have to be tried, new opening pair as well and a new pace bowling unit will be there. For years, MI's secret to success was their steady playing XI. Rohit will be incharge of this new transition with Kieron Pollard with a hope of sixth title.(Source: Twitter)

Two new IPL teams, how will they fare

Two new IPL teams, how will they fare

The time to finally welcome the two new IPL teams in Lucknow Super Giants and Gujarat Titans is almost there. A lot has been spoken about the amount for which they were bought and the team they have chosen at the auction. From March 26, it will be the real match that will start, the one played on the pitch. The world will witness how good a leader Hardik Pandya is. At the same time, we will see first team from UP playing in the league. Nothing great can be said about KL Rahul's leadership yet but it is another opportunity for him to shine as a leader. (Source: Twitter)

MS Dhoni's batting

Last but not the least, MS Dhoni. The CSK captain has not spoken whether this is going to be his last outing or not in this league. But Dhoni looks fitter. Some training pictures suggest he has worked hard on building those muscles and it would be interesting to see how he bats in the season ahead. Not to forget, he has crossed the age mark of 40 and he is still going on. IPL has a tough format and his fitness skills will be at test. (Source: Twitter)
