Shreyas Iyer leading KKR
KKR grabbed Shreyas Iyer at the IPL Auction 2022 for a price of Rs 12.25 crore and there was only one reason why they did so. That is they wanted a captain. In Iyer, they have a proven one. Iyer may not have won an IPL trophy yet but he was very close to one in 2020 when he took DC to the final. RCB under a new captain
Virat Kohli will no more lead RCB. He had announced his resignation last year before the second half of IPL 2021 began. Many believe he could well be back again but chances are very bleak for that happening. There are high chances that former South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis may be made the captain for this season. A new-look Mumbai Indians
There are plenty of changes in the MI playing XI now. There will no more be Krunal and Hardik Pandya in middle order, no Quinton de Kock at the top and no Trent Boult either with the new ball pairing with Jasprit Bumrah. This is a fresh start for Rohit Sharma's team in IPL as they embark on the journey to get their 6th title. New middle order combinations will have to be tried, new opening pair as well and a new pace bowling unit will be there. For years, MI's secret to success was their steady playing XI.
