Third phase of UP assembly polls see voters in full flare - In pics
Over 2.16 crore voters are eligible to exercise their franchise at 25,794 polling places and 15,557 polling stations in the third phase of Assembly elections.
The third phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections began on Sunday (February 20) and recorded a voter turnout of 21.18% up till 11 am. Polling is underway in 59 constituencies, spread across 11 districts in the state.
Earlier in the day, key leaders of Uttar Pradesh, including Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Swatantra Dev Singh among others reached their respective polling booths to exercise the franchise.
Meanwhile, reporters of voting discrepancies were also floated after which three people, including Kanpur mayor Pramila Pandey, were booked for breaching the secrecy of voting, informed by the District Magistrate (DM) of Kanpur Neha Sharma.
As many as 627 candidates are in the fray.
