Rainfall alert: Heavy to very heavy rains set to lash these states, predicts IMD
The weather department predicted enhance rainfall activity over northwest India on September 11.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday (September 10, 2021) said that the monsoon trough lies south of its normal position and is very likely to be south of its normal position during next 2-3 days. It also said that there will be an increase in rainfall activity over East Central India and the West coast from September 12.
Heavy falls over Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry

The IMD predicted that fairly widespread to widespread rainfall with isolated heavy falls are likely to continue over Gujarat, east Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh from September 10 to September 15.
It said isolated heavy to very heavy falls is likely over Gujarat during September 13-14, over east Rajasthan during September 10–12 and over east Madhya Pradesh on September 14.

Rainfall in August was the lowest in 19 years
Earlier on Thursday, the India Meteorological Department had said that rainfall in August, which recorded 24 per cent deficiency, was the lowest in 19 years. It said that two major spells of weak monsoon prevailed over the country -- from August 9-16 and August 23-27 -- when northwest, central and adjoining peninsular and west coast of India had subdued rainfall activities.
This is to be noted that the southwest monsoon season officially commences from June 1 and lasts till September 30. The month of June recorded 10 per cent more rainfall, but both July and August clocked deficiency of seven and 24 per cent respectively, the IMD data said.
