Rail Roko agitation: Protesting farmers hinder train services in 130 location-In pics

During the 'rail roko' protest, all train traffic was stopped from 10 am till 4 pm on Monday (October 18) as a result of which 50 trains at 130 locations of Northern railways were affected in the states of Punjab and Haryana.

In a statement, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of farmer unions spearheading the agitation against the Centre's three agri laws, had said "protests will be intensified until justice is secured" in the Lakhimpur Kheri case.

The Border Security Force (BSF) was deployed at Bahadurgarh Railway Station in Haryana and the security arrangements were tightened to avoid any mishap.

Agitation resulted in disruption of the railway traffic at the Modinagar Railway station in Uttar Pradesh`s Ghaziabad district. The security forces of four police stations of Ghaziabad district were deployed along with a company of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) at the Modinagar railway station.

In the North Western Railway (NWR), rail traffic was affected in some sections in Rajasthan and Haryana with two trains cancelled, 13 partially cancelled and one diverted due to the protest.

Delhi Police deployed its personnel at strategic points at the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Station in the national capital in view of the Rail Rokoagitation call given by farmer organisations.
