Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, among other states reopen schools from today with COVID-19 protocols in place
Various state governments have issued COVID-19 guidelines for the reopening of schools in a phased manner as the country witnesses decline in COVID-19 infections.
New Delhi: As the country has been witnessing a significant dip in COVID-19 infections, many states, including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, among others, have decided to reopen the schools for higher classes. Various state governments have issued COVID-19 guidelines for the reopening of schools in a phased manner.
Meanwhile, the country recorded 41,831 new COVID-19 cases and 541 deaths in the last 24 hours and the country's active count has now increased to 4.10 lakh, the data by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare showed on Sunday (August 1, 2021) morning. The health ministry also added that the active cases now constitute 1.30 percent of the total cases.

The Chhattisgarh government has permitted government-run and private schools to reopen for classes 10 and 12 from today with 50 percent attendance. The state government also added that the schools will only be allowed to reopen in the districts where the positivity rate is less or equal to 1 percent for the last seven days.
