Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (September 17, 2021) turned 71 and birthday greetings poured in from various leaders across parties. Born in Gujarat in 1950, Modi joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at an early age and was later drafted into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Since being made chief minister of Gujarat in 2001, PM Modi has never suffered an electoral setback when votes were cast on his leadership. He led the saffron party to power in the state for three consecutive terms and then at the Centre in 2014 and 2019.
