PM Modi, Vladimir Putin to meet today; spotlight on India-Russia 'Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership'
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will today host Russian President Vladimir Putin for the 21st India-Russia Annual Summit in New Delhi. This is their first face-to-face meeting since their rendezvous on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit in Brasilia in November 2019.
The meeting is likely to take place at 5:30 pm at the Hyderabad House during which the two leaders will review the state and prospects of bilateral relations and discuss ways to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries. Read more
Violence escalates in Nagaland after killings of civilians
A day after as many as 13 civilians were reportedly killed by the Indian Army in what they termed “mistaken identity”, an angry mob comprising approximately 500 youth entered the Army camp in the Mon district on Sunday. The security forces claimed that they tried to maintain restraint initially but when the situation went out of control, they fired in retaliation, during which, one person was killed and two others sustained injuries. ‘Killer Squadron’ that sunk Pakistani warships during 1971 war to get rare honour
President Ram Nath Kovind will award the President`s Standard to the Indian Navy’s 22nd Missile Vessel Squadron, also known as the 'Killer Squadron', at a ceremonial parade on December 8. 'Killer Squadron' had bombed the Karachi Port and sunk Pakistan Navy's vessels during the decisive 1971 war. Read more
India reports 17 new Omicron cases, total tally rises to 21
India witnessed 17 new cases of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 on Sunday - nine persons in Rajasthan capital Jaipur, seven in Maharashtra's Pune district and a fully vaccinated man who arrived in Delhi from Tanzania - taking the tally to 21 in the country.
With this, four states and the national capital have now recorded cases of the new variant. Read more
