The Indian Army conducted one of the biggest Airborne exercises in the North East on Friday (January 10) last week. The exercise was code-named as ‘Winged Raider’ to signify the multidimensional nature of the drill.

The purpose of the "Winged Raider" exercise was to demonstrate the operational readiness of our Paratroopers and Air Warriors whilst undertaking airborne missions.

On January 6, before the beginning of the exercise, preparations were made for the movement of the special forces troops which included rallying up of Indian Air Force aircraft for the transfer.

The drill witnessed the participation of more than 500 soldiers of the Special Forces who parachuted from C-130 Hercules, C-17 Globemaster III and Dhruv helicopters during the day and at night.

Also, the newly inducted aerial platforms and equipment were tested on this training mission. It was found to be working with clockwork precision and also seamlessly integrated with the Indian Army and Indian Air Force troopers working in difficult terrain.
