National Tourism Day: Visit the unexplored places in India

Uttarakhand is full of places of scenic beauty. You can explore popular tourist spots like Nainital, Corbett Tiger Reserve in Ramnagar or visit the unexplored hill stations Mukteshwar, Lansdowne. You can also visit Rishikesh or Haridwar and take a dip in the holy river Ganga.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma encouraged people to visit the ‘Awesome Assam’ and wrote, ‘From the foothills of Kamakhya to lush green tea gardens, one-horned rhinos to the mighty Brahmaputra, we are blessed to be in a land where nature, history and modernity blend in perfect harmony’.

Odisha offers you the opportunity to go for a ride in the Chilika Lake, explore the ancient Sun Temple of Konark and visit Sri Jagannatha Temple in Puri.

In Rajasthan you can get a taste of what the royal life was like and explore grand forts like Amber Palace, Hawa Mahal and visit the ‘pink city’ of Jaipur and ‘blue city’ of Jodhpur.

On Tourism Day Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi tweeted, ‘Tourism not only contributes significantly to the development of a country or a state but also refreshes the life of an individual. Let's preserve our heritage sites & introduce our hospitality to the travellers coming from different parts of the country. #NationalTourismDay’.

‘God’s own country’ is the perfect destination to explore the backwaters and bring home some of the best spices in the world.

Bihar Tourism described the state as ‘a land blessed with ancient monuments, pilgrimage sites, natural wonders, and vibrant culture abound’ and welcomed people to visit them.

There is a lot to explore in this state including the financial capital of India- Mumbai, beaches, the Gateway of India, Ajanta Ellora caves, Lonavla and much more.
