India's climate diplomacy wins as nations compromise on coal to strike UN climate deal
In a major win in international diplomacy in the UN Climate Change Conference COP26, India on Saturday managed to convince the world to include coal to the `phase down`, instead of `phase out` after days of negotiations.
India finally backed the COP26 draft that was passed by nearly 200 nations.
US climate chief John Kerry defended the Glasgow deal by saying "this is not the finish line for climate change...what we need is to live in pollution-free". Read more
PM Narendra Modi to transfer first PMAY-G instalment to 1.47 lakh beneficiaries in Tripura today
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to transfer the first instalment of Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G) to more than 1.47 lakh beneficiaries of Tripura today. Over Rs 700 crore will be credited directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries on the occasion.
Delhi continues to gasp for breath, AQI remains 'very poor' on Sunday morning
A day after CM Arvind Kejriwal announced several steps to check the air pollution in Delhi, the national capital's air quality index (AQI) was recorded in the 'very poor' category on Sunday morning. Assam Rifles commander, family, among 7 killed in Manipur ambush
A commanding officer of the Assam Rifles, his wife and son, besides four personnel were killed on Saturday in a welter of IED blasts and the burst of gunfire in Manipur's Churachandpur district.
Two proscribed militant organisations - the People's Liberation Army (PLA) and the Manipur Naga People's Front (MNPF) - claimed responsibility for the ambush at Sehkan village in Churachandpur district of the North-eastern state. Read more
