In a major step to curb the spread of coronavirus in the country, India has completely locked down 32 states and UTs which includes 560 districts as an preventive measure to stop the spread of virus in the country. The number of COVID-19 cases went up to 492 on Tuesday and 9 deaths have been reported till date.

Curfew has been imposed in states like Punjab, Maharashtra, and Puducherry as state governments acted with a sense of urgency to strictly enforce the restrictions on the movement of people, deploying police on streets, sealing borders and booking violators.
Inter-state passenger bus and trains services have been suspended till March 31 as well. The Centre has also suspended visas till April 15. As per official figures, over 15 lakh people have been screened at various airports in India so far.
