Cities came to standstill as all shops and establishments, transport facilities were suspended to avoid any kind of public gathering. Railways and airways also suspended its services as a support to Janata Curfew and all tourist spots were shut.

PM Modi had on Thursday called for the 'Janata curfew' from on March 22, saying no citizen, barring those in essential services, should get out of their houses, and asserted that it will be a litmus test to show India's readiness to take on the coronavirus challenge.
Meanwhile, Punjab govt also ordered lockdown till March 31. Other states which have announced lockdown due to coronavirus in India includes - Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan.

Transport facility suspended in West Bengal during Janata curfew
No traffic movement was seen near Howrah bridge in West Bengal's Kolkata as people quarantine to participate in Janata Curfew on Sunday from 7 am to 9 pm. All other transport facility are also suspended in the state to prevent the spread of coronavirus by practising social distancing. West Bengal had reported four positive cases till date.
