In Pics: Deteriorating Air Quality In Delhi-NCR; AQI Plunges Into 'Severe' Category

Various areas in Delhi experienced 'severe' air quality conditions, with Mundka registering the highest Air Quality Index (AQI) of 498, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

With the implementation of the GRAP-III stage to counter pollution in Delhi, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) added 20 extra trips across its network from November 3.

In October, Delhi recorded the highest levels of PM2.5 (Particulate Matter) across the nation and has consistently observed an upward trend since 2021, as reported by the Respirer Report.

Delhi on Thursday enforced the GRAP III as the air quality in the national capital and its adjoining areas slipped into the severe category.

On Friday morning  AQI in Mundka stood at 498, making it highest in Delhi while AQI in the Lodhi Road area was recorded at 438, in Jahangirpuri at 491, in the RK Puram area and in IGI Airport (T3) at 486 and 473 respectively.

In the wake of rising pollution Delhi government on Thursday closed all govt and private primary schools in the national capital up to class 5 for November 3 and 4. However, MCD schools will remain closed on November 3 and 4 and the classes will be held in online mode for students.
