IAF to induct Made-in-India Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) on THIS day: IN PICS
The Indian Air Force is set to induct the 'Made-in-India' Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) at the Jodhpur Air Force Station on October 3, 2022; making it the most light weight helicopter to become part of the Indian defence forces giving impetus to high-altitude counter-insurgency operations.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi formally handed over the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) to the Indian Air Force (IAF) in November 2021 and will be inducted in the IAF fleet on October 3. The LCH is India's first indigenously-built dedicated combat helicopter and the helos have been flying armed patrol sorties in the region amid reports of China’s unwillingness to move back its forces from some of the areas it occupied along the Line of Actual Control. Equipped with Shakti engine developed by HAL with French engine-maker Safran (earlier called Turbomeca), the 5.5-tonne helicopter has been designed to operate at an altitude of up to 20,000 feet.
