Himalaya Diwas: Protect and promote the youngest mountain range
Experts believe that black carbon deposits at the Himalayas are speeding up the melting of glaciers hence contributing to the worsening effects of climate change.

Uttarakhand: 'Himalaya Diwas' or 'Himalaya Day' is celebrated in the state of Uttarakhand to raise awareness about the conservation of the rich flora and fauna of the state.
In 2014, the then CM Harish Rawat officially declared September 9 as 'Himalaya Diwas' to propagate the message of conservation of the Himalayan ecosystems.
