From Navjot Singh Sidhu to Sunil Jakhar, a look at frontrunners for post of Punjab CM after Amarinder Singh's exit

As per sources, the new face is likely to be announced on Sunday and Punjab unit president Navjot Singh Sidhu, former state Congress chief Sunil Jakhar and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are a few of the names that are doing the rounds. 

Navjot Singh Sidhu is said to be one of the frontrunners for the post of Chief Minister of Punjab. However, Amarinder Singh had said on Saturday that he won't accept the cricketer-turned-politician as the next chief minister or the party face in the upcoming Assembly polls.

Meanwhile, some sources have said that Sidhu was not in contention for the next CLP leader.

The name of former Punjab Congress chief Sunil Jakhar is also one of the names that is doing rounds. Earlier on Saturday, Dhankar had expressed, "Kudos to Rahul Gandhi for adopting Alexandrian solution to this Punjabi version of Gordian knot. Surprisingly, this bold leadership decision to resolve Punjab Congress imbroglio has not only enthralled Congress workers but has sent shudders down the spines of Akalis."

Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa may also be considered to be the new face of the Punjab chief minister. Randhawa, notably, was also one of the four ministers who had demanded to replace Amarinder Singh in August.

Senior Congress leader and former Union Minister Ambika Soni may also be chosen as the new Punjab Chief Minister. 

Names of Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa (L), Brahm Mohindra and Vijay Inder Singla are also reportedly being considered to lead the poll-bound state.

Punjab Congress working president Kuljit Singh Nagra (L) and Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa are also in the race.
