Taking cognisance of the rise in number of cases, Kerala government decide to impose a Sunday lockdown in state. The decision was taken on Saturday and the restriction come to effect from Sunday, August 29. See Pics

Kerala witnessed a rise in number of COVID-19 cases causing Centre to suggest measures to  check the spread of the infection in the state. 

Kerala has been recording over 30,000 fresh cases for the past three days even after the government restricted mass gatherings ahead of festivals such as Muharram and Onam.

The state government had reported 31,265 new infections late on Saturday comprising nearly 70% of the country's total new daily cases.

Apart from the Sunday curfew, Kerala has also imposed night restrictions from 10 pm to 6 am to slow down the spread of infections.
