Yearender 2021: From Sushmita Sen to Sidharth Shukla - Best OTT performances of this year!

Although for the most part of the year, theatres were closed, OTT platforms such as Netflix, ZEE5, Amazon Prime and Dishey+ Hotstar continued to amaze us and keep us entertained. From Sidharth Malhotra's intense performance in 'Shershaah' to the late actor Sidharth Shukla memorable role in 'Broken But Beautiful 4', we've covered it all. The late actor impressed audiences with his stellar performance as he played the character of Agastya Rao, an angry young man, who is an aspiring director in a theatre. In the show, he falls in love with a rich and privileged girl Rumi Desai played by Sonia Rathee, his muse. The web series was a complete roller coaster ride full of drama, love, hatred, jealousy, revenge, and obsession.

One of the biggest OTT shows of the year - 'Scam 1992' won hearts all across the country. Pratik Gandhi who played infamous stockbroker Harshad Mehta in the show enthralled audiences with his performance in the series. 

Actor Mohit Raina took the internet by storm with his powerful performance in Mumbai Diaries 26/11. He played the role of a surgeon in the series. The backdrop is based on the real-life terror attacks in Mumbai on 26/11. Mohit carries the show beautifully and embodies the tension, pressure and tragedy of the dreadful night. 

Sushmita Sen once again took the trophy home with her banging performance in 'Aarya 2' which released recently. In the show, she played the role of an independent woman dedicated to protecting her family and hellbent to seek vengeance for her husband's murder.

Manoj Bajpayee got rave reviews from critics and audiences alike for his thrilling performance in The Family Man 2. In the show, he played a middle-class man and a spy, Srikant Tiwari who balances between his two identities.

Taapsee Pannu's nuanced performance in the thriller 'Haseen Dillruba' was one of the year's most unmissable acts. She played Rani Kashyap in the film, an independent woman who gets married to a meek guy. However, she ends up cheating on him which unleashes a different side of her husband played by Vikrant Massey.

Vidya Balan plays Vidya Vincent - a Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) has a major task to tame and capture the T12 tigress, who has claimed several lives and is on a prowl. Her grit and dedication to the role gained applause from fans.

Sidharth Malhotra essayed the role of Param Vir Chakra winner the late Indian Army Captain Vikram Batra in the film. Inspired by a true story, Shershaah celebrated the bravery and gallant spirit of Captain Vikram Batra (PVC) and honours his invaluable sacrifice in the Kargil War. 

Vicky Kaushal became the talk of the town after his film 'Sardar Udham' released on Amazon Prime. In the film, he played the role of real-life freedom fighter Sardar Udham Singh who on March 13, 1940, shot Micheal O’Dwyer at a meeting at East India Association and The Royal Central Asian Society at Caxton Hill. Micheal O’Dwyer was responsible for the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

 Adarsh Gourav played Balram Halwai who after creating his own business empire, recalls his struggle story in the film. He lays emphasis on the fact that most people are stuck in the cycle of poverty like chickens in a coup. Priyanka Chopra and Rajkummar Rao also play titular roles in the film.
