The ninth month of the Islamic calendar Ramadan, is considered to be the holiest by Muslims across the globe. Ramdan or Ramzan officially begins at the first sighting of the waxing crescent after the new moon, leading to different countries declaring its start a day apart most of the time. While Saudi Arabia, UAE and USA began Ramadan on Friday evening, India ringed in the holy month on Saturday evening (April 2). Muslims belive, that it was the month of Ramadan when Prophet Muhammad was first revealed Quran by angel Jibreel (Gabriel). Believers from dusk to dawn during the holy month and abstain from sins and bad behaviour and conduct. It is also the month of charity where Muslims give out alms to poor and needy.
