Lockdown anniversary: Bollywood films which released on OTT platform due to pandemic
The Indian film and television industry turned upside down and came to a standstill when coronavirus lockdown was enforced first on March 24, 2020. Film shoots were halted and theatres remained deserted for several months, which led to postponement upcoming movies or shifting their release to digital platforms. At such a time, OTT platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime and Disney+Hotstar helped filmmakers’ reach out to an audience for their films.
As India marks the first anniversary of nation-wide lockdown on March 24, we take a look at a list of film that were not able to see its release on the 70mm screen, and were released on OTT platforms.

This film marked late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s final and posthumous feature on-screen. Its release was delayed owing to the nation-wide lockdown and unfortunate demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Ultimately, it was released on Disney+ Hotstar on July 24, 2020 and was made available to all viewers for free to honour the memory of the late actor.
