Bhojpuri superstar Sweety Chhabra was conferred with the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Global Excellence Award at an event in the national capital. Sweety received the honour from Delhi former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

Apart from her films, Sweety has been taking a keen interest in social service these days.  During a candid conversation, she said, "I have worked in many films and will continue to work even further. But I have started giving time to my business and social service. And I am enjoying it."

Apart from the former Delhi Chief Minister, Indian captain Azharuddin, senior Congress leader Mr Kripashankar Singh and renowned wrestler The Great Khali were present at the event.

She started her acting career in 2002 with television soap 'Hawaayein'. She made her Bollywood debut with 'Funtoosh' in 2003 which also featured veteran actor Paresh Rawal.

Later, she appeared in a full-fledged role in Hindi film 'Pehli Najar Ka Pyaar' which released in 2008. Subsequently, she also started signing regional films in Bhojpuri and Gujarati.

She appeared in music video 'Pari Hoon Mein', which was sung by famous singer Falguni Pathak.

She also did music video 'Tham Ke Baras', which was released by Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik.

She became a superstar in Bhojpuri cinema and did films like 'Gawanwa Life Raja Ji', 'Saugandh', Lagal Rahe Raja ji', 'Daag', 'Rannbhumi', among several others.

In her career, she has worked with almost all the superstars of the Bhojpuri film industry.

Last year, she played a key role opposite Khesari Lal Yadav in the blockbuster film 'Hogi Pyar Ki Jeet'.

In 2017, she was honoured by the I&B Ministry for her contribution to the Bhojpuri film industry.
