Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in an interview with an entertainment portal, slammed Bollywood celebs who are vacationing in the Maldives while the country is in the middle of the pandemic and thousands of people are dying on a daily basis. “Logon ke paas khana nahin hai aur aap paise phenk rahe ho. Kuch toh sharam karo. (People don’t have food to eat and you are spending money like water. Have some shame,” said the actor to Bollywood Hungama.

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, various Bollywood celebrities like Sara Ali Khan, Janhvi Kapoor, Disha Patani, Tiger Shroff, Madhuri Dixit among others were spotted chilling at the island nation and sharing their photos on their social media handles.

Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan in an interview with the Quint shares, “It has been a tough time for everyone and for some people much more. I think gratitude and being thankful for privileges is what is most important to know versus throwing your privileges in people’s faces."

Veteran actor Annu Kapoor has also slammed celebrities to be mindful of the pandemic and not post photos of their vacations while the world is suffering. “I humbly appeal to rich and famous from all walks of life and media not to post their pictures vacationing at exotic locations while the most of the world suffers with pandemic. Kisi ko jalaa ke majloomon ki baddua kyun lena (Why should you attract curse of the downtrodden by making them jealous)?,” read Annu’s tweet.
