Mahindra XUV700 to Tata Nexon - Top 10 safest cars to buy in India: IN PICS

Mahindra XUV700 is India's safest car and has scored 5-star rating in the crash test. The top variants gets lot of safety equipments like seven airbags and advanced driver aids like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and more, base variants on the other hand gets dual airbags with ABS. Mahindra XUV 700 is priced between Rs 12.49 lakh to Rs 22.99 lakh.

Tata Punch micro-SUV is based on the same platform used by the Altroz. Tata Punch sub-compact SUV has scored a 5 stars rating, just like the Altroz and is Tata Motors' safest car. Standard safety equipment on the Punch includes dual airbags, ABS, front seat belt reminders and rear parking sensors. Tata Punch is priced between Rs 5.49 lakh to Rs 9.39 lakh.

Mahindra XUV300 is a sub-4 metre SUV competing against Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza and Tata Nexon. XUV300 has scored 5 star rating in the Global NCAP crash test. Mahindra XUV300 is equipped with two airbags, ABS with EBD, rear disc brakes, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, seat belt reminders and rear parking sensors across all variants. Higher Variants is also equipped with 6 airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system, front parking sensors and ESP.

Tata Altroz is the safest made-in-India hatchback available in the Indian market. Tata Nexon has the record for being the first made-in-India car to receive 5 stars rating in the crash test back in 2017. In 2021, all Tata Nexon variants come standard with two airbags, ABS and ISOFIX child-seat mounts. Priced between Rs 7.30 lakh and Rs 13.35 lakh for the top model, the diesel-automatic model has two airbags, ABS and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard.

In addition to being a capable off-roader, the Mahindra Thar is also a safe vehicle scoring 4 stars in the crash test conducted by Global NCAP. In terms of adult and child protection, the second-generation off-roader has four stars. The safety score also brought a change to Mahindra Thar lineup, which was reduced to only the models with forward-facing rear seats and the side facing rear seats were removed.  

A surprise entry to the list is the Honda City (4th gen) model with 4-star safety rating by Global NCAP. The 5th-gen Honda City is not listed by Global NCAP as of now, however, the 4th gen model is also on sale in India today. It gets 2 airbags as standard. 

Joining other Tata Motors vehicles in receiving high safety ratings is the first electric car on the list - the Tata Tigor EV with 4 star rating. Tata Tigor EV are equipped with 2 airbags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensor across all variants.

Based on the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, which happens to be the safest car on the Maruti Suzuki lineup, the Toyota Urban Cruiser has scored 4 stars rating in the crash test with the help of the safety equipments like dual airbags, ABS, EBD and front seat belts with pretensioners which are standard across all variants.

Tata Tiago and Tigor have scored 4 stars each in the crash test conducted by the Global NCAP. Tata Tiago, Tigor are equipped with 2 airbags, ABS, EBD and rear parking sensor across all variants. They are the smallest cars in the list.
