Top 10 notable wealth creators on Hurun India Rich List 2021 beyond Tatas, Birlas

New Delhi: Hurun India and IIFL Wealth, on Thursday (September 30), released the IIFL Wealth Hurun India Rich List 2021 featuring the richest individuals in India with more than Rs 1000 crore wealth. 

However, besides the usual names in the top 10, the list had many firsts, thanks to the rise of Indian startups and other sectors such as chemicals and software technologies. Here are the top 10 notable wealth creators on Hurun India Rich List 2021:

Jay Chaudhary

Jay Chaudhary

Jay Chaudhry, 62, is the founder and CEO of the cloud security company Zscaler. Hailing from Himachal Pradesh, the IIT alumni had founded the cyber security firm in 2007. 

 

He currently owns 42% of the Nasdaq-listed Zscaler, which has a market cap of INR 2,81,000 crore. This means that his total wealth stands at Rs 1,21,600 crores.

Radha Vembu

Radha Vembu is the founding member of Zoho, a software as a service (Saas) company based out of Chennai. With a total wealth of Rs 23,100, she stands at the 70th position in the Hurun India Rich List 2021.

Kamath Family

Kamath Family - Nithin Kamath and Nikhil Kamath, which is the founder of one of the most popular stock broking apps in India, Zerodha, also made it to the top 100 in the Hurun India Rich List 2021. The family stood at the 63rd position with a wealth of Rs 25,600 crore.

Vijay Shekhar Sharma

Founder and CEO of fintech app Paytm, Vijay Shekhar Sharma, is one of the names that have been featuring quite often on the list. However, in the 2021 charts, Sharma’s rank slipped by 43 positions to 87. His current wealth stands at Rs 18,900 crore.

Byju Raveendran and family

Byju Raveendran and family, which run Byju’s learning app, is also one of the tech-based entries in the list. They are at the 67th spot on the list with a total wealth of Rs 24,300 crore.

At the age of just 23, BharatPe’s Shashvat Nakrani was the youngest individual in the Hurun India Rich List 2021. The IITian is a self-made individual who had launched the fintech app in his 3rd year of college.

Deepinder Goyal is the co-founder and CEO of Zomato. The food delivery app recently made a stellar listing on the stock exchange, which saw the wealth of investors more than doubling in a few days.

Deepak Chimanlal Mehta & family

At the 100th spot is Deepak Chimanlal Mehta and family, who saw their wealth jump by more than 250%. Mehta and family are the promoters of Deepak Nitrite, a Chemicals and petrochemicals firm.

Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, who is also known as Big Bull, is one of the prominent names on the list. Most of his wealth has been generated by investing in the stock markets. The serious investor is now planning to start his own airline company.
