5 upcoming affordable electric cars to be launched in India

With the launch of five upcoming electric vehicles from MG, Hyundai and Mahindra, among others, we might see more electric cars on Indian roads than ever.

Electric future is looking more and more inevitable. Taking the cue, the Indian automobile industry is also planning launches of electric vehicles in the market. Many high-end brands like BMW and Audi are selling electric vehicles but are catering to a niche. For Indians, the affordable side of electric vehicles is yet to be seen. 

However, with the launch of these five upcoming electric vehicles, we might see more electric cars than ever:

Mahindra eKUV100

Mahindra eKUV100

Mahindra is planning to launch affordable electric SUV Mahindra eKUV100 in Indian markets as early as 2023. The car is expected to be launched at an ex-showroom price of Rs 8.25 lakh. As of now, the four-wheeler's technicals haven't been revealed by the carmaker.

Tata Altroz EV

Tata Altroz EV

Tata is all set to launch the Tata Altroz EV. The company currently have two EVs in its lineup: Tata Nexon and Tata Tiago. However, Tata Alroz could be launched with a better battery pack than the existing models.

Mahindra eXUV300

Mahindra eXUV300

After the launch of eKUV100, Mahindra and Mahindra also plans to introduce eXUV 300. The technical details are not yet disclosed but the company has revealed that EV will be offered in two variants- standard and long-range. The car is expected to launch in 2023.

Hyundai's electric car

Hyundai's electric car

Hyundai announced an investment of Rs 1000 crores for the development of affordable electric cars. As per the reports the model will be a small crossover with delivering range that would be suitable for city commuters. It is expected to launch in 2022.

MG's compact eSUV

MG's compact eSUV

MG motor India is in works to add a new EV to its range by 2023. It will be positioned below ZS EV. It is expected to compete with Tata Nexon ZS EV
