New Delhi: Indian cinema's one of the most revered actors Anupam Kher has been appointed as the new chairperson of the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). The veteran actor has replaced the controversial chairman Gajendra Chauhan, whose appointment created a ruckus with students protesting against it.

As soon as Anupam Kher's appointment was announced, Twitter saw a flood of reactions from various personalities. In fact, Kher too tweeted about his new role as the chairperson of the esteemed film school. Anupam Kher also became one of the top trends on the micro-blogging site. 

The 62-year-old thespian has acted in over 500 movies and is a well-known name in theatre too. He has also held the post of chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification and the National School of Drama in India.
