Sebastian Vettel wins the Hungarian Grand Prix 2017 to extend his championship lead over Lewis Hamilton to 14 points.


Lap 70/70: Sebastian Vettel wins in Hungary!

Mercedes finally swapped. Good sportsman spirit by Lewis Hamilton.

Kimi Raikkonen and Bottas complete the podium.

Hamilton finishes fourth with Verstappen fifth and Alonso a brilliant sixth. 


Lap 69/70: Mercedes haven't been able to swap Hamilton and Bottas back.


Lap 68/70: Ferrari look set for their 2nd 1-2 finish this season now.

Lap 65/70: Mercedes now have a decision to make. They had promised Bottas they would return him to third, after he let Hamilton through earlier. 

Bottas is under a major threat from Verstappen.

Lap 63/70: Felipe Massa's stand-in for Williams Paul di Resta is asked to retire.

Lap 39/70: Max Verstappen is the only one of the initial top six not to have stopped and he is leading this race by 10.6s.


Lap 36/70: Alonso and Sainz race in the pit lane. 


Lap 34/70: Raikkonen also pits and comes out alongside Vettel.

Verstappen is leading the race at the moment and has not made a pit stop.


Lap 33/70: Vettel pits, returns ahead of Bottas on soft tyres.


Lap 32/70: "Fronts are not in a healthy shape," says Vettel. "Don't extend it." He wants to come in.

Lap 17/70: Here's what Daniel Ricciardo has to say about Max Verstappen's opening lap, "I don't think he likes when a team-mate gets in front of him. It was a very poor mistake. For sure, we'll sort it out. I don't think there's an excuse for it. He got the line taken away from, he sees me go past, and it's like 'I've got to fix this' and that's it."

Lap 6/70: 10-second time penalty handed to Max Verstappen for causing a collision with Ricciardo.

New Delhi: Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel took pole position for the Hungarian Grand Prix heading a Ferrari one-two as title rival Lewis Hamilton struggled in fourth.

Hamilton, who trails Vettel by one point in the world championship, complained consistently of tyre problems in his Mercedes and had a messy session.

Vettel was 0.254 seconds quicker than the fastest Mercedes of Valtteri Bottas, with team-mate Kimi Raikkonen second.

Scot Paul di Resta qualified an excellent 19th after being drafted in as a last-minute stand-in for Williams' Felipe Massa.

Dutchman Max Verstappen was fifth for Red Bull ahead of his Australian team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, with German Nico Hulkenberg seventh for Renault and two-time champion Spaniard Fernando Alonso eighth for McLaren-Honda on his 36th birthday.
