Washington: The United States does not expect any change in its relations with Saudi Arabia following the death of longtime king Abdullah and the ascension of Salman, the State Department said Friday.

"We have a long history of cooperation. We don`t have any indication that that cooperation will change," State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki told reporters.

"We look forward to continuing the close partnership between the United States and Saudi Arabia under the leadership of King Salman," she said.

"They are in a period of mourning right now. But there are a range of issues that we`ve worked together on whether it`s the Arab Peace Initiative or the campaign to degrade and defeat ISIL."

She said she had no announcements on whether Secretary of State John Kerry would travel to Riyadh in the coming days.
